As a Shaver staff, we are committed to providing high level instruction for our students. Our instructional focus is to provide a rigorous and systematic academic instructional program that is aligned to the Common Core State Standards. Our school offers the SUN program which provides a partnership with our community through an after school program with an academic focus as well as a weekly food pantry. As a district, we are implementing the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) system to help develop critical thinkers who achieve at high levels. Our goal is to prepare all students to be college and career ready.
In addition to AVID, our school utilizes PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System). We expect our students to Be a Learner, Be Responsible, Be Respectful and Be Safe. PBIS practices are rooted in explicitly teaching behavior expectations in all settings of the school and reinforcing positive student behaviors through a variety of classroom and schoolwide methods.
The staff at Shaver believes that teaching children is a team effort. You are your child's first teacher and we have much to learn from your experiences and knowledge in order for your child to be successful in school. You and your child are important members of our team. You are welcome to attend our monthly assembly focused on college/career readiness and PBIS. We hope that you will find community with our growing parent group that meets monthly. We welcome volunteers and look forward to working with you.
Shaver Vision Statement:
Honoring each student with high expectations in an engaging, safe environment in partnership with our community.
We believe in high expectations for all, strengthened by diversity, promoted by best practices and nurtured in a caring and safe environment.
This is an art project that was created by Ms. Tucker's 4/5 grade class. They are going to be competing with other schools and districts. Their art project will be voted on, and if they win they will get to eat lunch with the Chief of Police! Good luck Ms. Tucker's class!
